Speech Processes and Attentional Resources for Communication
SPARC Lab
At SPARC Lab, we are working towards advancing our understanding of the diversity of human experiences and the complex processes that support communication.
By investigating the neurocognitive and physiological functions that support communication and learning, we aim to inform and expand the possibilities of effective speech and language therapies.
To this aim, we welcome creative thought, informed perspectives, and collaborative partnerships in advancing the science of speech development, production and rehabilitation.
Research Focus

Speech
Our research aims to better understand the process of speech development, as well as the experience of stuttering across the life course.

Mechanisms of Learning
We examine the neurocognitive mechanisms that facilitate speech production and complex skill acquisition.

Neurophysiology
We apply methods of functional and structural brain imaging to investigate the neural bases of speech and developmental stuttering.
